Geez, it´s only game.
IRL, would you prefer wearing cloths without any decoration (or color) or with a design you like ?
geez, they are only cloths, they will keep you warm the same way

what's wrong in liking the design of the FoW armor better than others ?

That´s not how I meant it. I like colored armor and diversity. It was reaction to those complainers, who say they will quit or that this game will die only because someone else was in the right time on the right place and will have in a few mins FoW armor (but the armor won´t give any person any gaming advantage over others, so why do they complain ? )

Well, I'de like to have some FoW armor becuase that's one of my objectives left with the game (Besides getting all the skills, upgrades and doing every single UW/FoW quest), atleast in the PvE spectrum. I'm working on that. It's a simble of accomplishment. But if it costs so much gold and resources, things that I don't have, I'm not going to buy money off e-bay or something

I certainly wouldn't buy 400 dollar jeans in real life ^^

I agree with Sagius on the subject of FoW armour.

It's not about splurging 60k + cost of materials & working your way through FoW, all for the sake of armour that just has a nice graphic, it's the challenge of getting there and achieving a goal.

In Final Fantasy games, for instance, you may complete the game, but there is usually an uber-tough boss hidden away somewhere in a very difficult area. It doesn't affect the outcome of the game, but it provides a distinct challenge.

In a similar way, FoW armour (and acquiring it) offers a different challenge, serving no other real purpose other than to prolong the game and make it more interesting for PvE'rs who have completed the final mission.

Of course, there are several ways of getting your mitts on FoW armour, a few of which are more challenging than others (Collecting Ecto or Obsidian after several UW/FoW runs instead of just farming and buying it from traders, for instance), but the actual Armour itself is not half as important as the effort put in and satisfaction gained in obtaining it.

You do realize that most UW or FoW runs turn up 2 or 3 of the items, max? Farming ecto by doing normal 8 player runs is bordering on the insanely time consuming.

I think they are being bought up faster then they are generated/sold to the trader. Not only are they out of stock, I am not even seeing them listed.

Update – Thursday, August 11

* Improved traders so that they maintain more stable prices and closer spreads between buy and sell prices.

* Improved traders so that traders from all regions (America, Europe, and Korea) now buy and sell from the same stock and charge the same prices.
Err.. Does this mean.. we're competing with Europe and Korea for ALL traders? Because... that's just insane.

I'll tell ya it is WORK to get a Superior monk Rune. they show up and are out of stock before I can click on it. But if you hammer away at it..you will finally get one.

I have been buying up some so I can infuse different armor and become a Swap out monk. Kinda cool to switch around to the Attributes you need more for a mission.

What is everyone on this forum an economics major??? Who cares what the prices have done. It's a game. I took advantage of the price drop and made good from it. It sucks if other people missed it, but everyone acts like it's gonna destroy the code or saying F Guild Wars. People seem to always look for some big get rich quick scheme on this game (running, farming, material hording), if that works for you that's cool, but if it doesn't who cares. The games meant to be about having fun. Fissure armor and ub3r godly weapons are for the people who like the grind that Guild Wars doesn't really give. If you're extremely pissed about being poor, get on Ebay and buy yourself 500p.

Err, who are you talking/refering to?

Why does anyone care that someone has more stuff/money than them out of pure luck? I mean really, most of you will earn it (or buy it off e-bay) so why do you care if they have more money?

Oh, please, the 100-400 people that stocked up on superior vigors are NOT omni-present How will they "always be there to outbid you"?

Agreed.

While I personally am a PvPer and have already gotten all of basic equipment I want (droknar's armor, collectors' weapons, etc.) I don't really care that the prices reset and were abused like hell. Yes, I have thought about getting the fissure armor, and I was quite aggravated after I found out what I missed, but I don't think it's too bad. Of course only half the game (if that) is PvP, so my opinion does not represent the community.

Most PvE'ers (correct me if I'm wrong, please) have wanted to work and save up for their fissure armor among other things, which was, aside from a status symbol, a symbol of their hard work. By allowing a few players to cash in has completely destroyed that. Also, the economy (which is strictly PvE) has been more or less destroyed by the hoarding/unavailability of many items. So basically, all the PvE'ers, who make up the other half of the population, have gotten seriously shafted.

I honestly don't think Arenanet's capable of this kind of incompetence, and I hate to say it, but I think they've just decided to neglect/kill the PvE portion of the game.

Ok, I decided to take it upon myself to help combat this "hoarding" of superior runes that everybody keeps complaining about. I wanted a set of Monk runes to make a "105" farming monk. So I brought the entire set of runes from the trader for under 20k in less than 5 minutes of talking to the trader, and then I was like, "Wait, these runes are suppose to be hard to buy from the trader, why was I able to buy the entire set?" Maybe I got the magic touch or something (actually, it's all about timing). Anyways, I decided to continue to buy more runes and sell them at very low prices to the people who keep complaining that they cannot buy superior runes. I was spamming WTS many different runes for about 250 to 500g above the trader price, small compensation for my work in getting them from the trader (and to somewhat prevent the horders who spend all day buying runes from just simply taking advantage of my work). Nobody wanted to buy a single one of my runes. I went through several districts of Lion's Arch, Droknar's, Ascalon, etc. Not a single person wanted to buy. So here I was hanging onto about 40 Superior Runes, including some that were quite expensive (Superior Healing cost 7.5k at the trader), and I couldn't sell them at all. I decided to lower some of them down to the same price as the traders to see what would happen and then some people called me a scammer cause I was selling Superior Runes for 250g. They were saying that I was abusing the trader...

In the end, I was only able to sell some of my Monk Runes. I sold 3 of them for 7k and kept a set for Monk runes for myself and gave the others to friends. Then I sold about 40 Superior Runes (they were not the unpopular ones like Earth or Beastmastery, they were Axe, Swordsmanship, Marksmanship, etc) back to the trader because I had nothing to do with them. What I have learned is that most PvE people don't want to use Superior Runes at all (which is probably why their prices were all very very low a month back when they traders were logical). Most people are just complaining about not being able to buy superior runes just because it's something to complain about (yeah, there's probably one guy complaining who is serious, but most others are just complaining because it is something to complain about). Let the hoarders buy up all the Superior Runes of Beastmastery or Earth, etc. They are just going to hang onto it for a while because it's useless. I just wasted 20k gold today because I couldn't sell the runes to players for their trader prices and I had to sell back to trader. Tried to help the community, but no help was actually needed or wanted at all.
